What Muscles Allow You to Fly-fish?
Fly-fishing is a very active sport that involves demanding casts. In order to perform the challenging task of casting, numerous muscles are required. In total, the fly cast takes a full-body effort where the lower, upper, and trunk portions of the body are involved. The focus of this section is to select our attention to the important muscles used in the upper body for casting. There are many large muscle groups that are critical to the cast. These muscles include: the deltoid, latissimus dorsi, pectoralis major, and the rotator cuff muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and the subscapularis). In order to have successful casting and prevent injuries it is vital that these major muscles are strong and trained. Listed below are the movements that each muscle produced when the muscle is activated. Each muscle movement plays a critical role in allowing a fly-fishing cast.
